Exciting Thailand (First day and Second day)

Long time no post!
My daughter and I traveled to Thailand at the end of last month.
We left Japan on February 23rd and came back here on February 27th.
The weather had been wonderful during our trip but it was very hot.
I was thinking about to visit the ayutthaya : the world heritage site for many years.
My daughter had an interest in riding an elephant so we rode it.
I've just posted our best shots on my blog so we couldn't forget our Memories
in Thailand.  I'm going to post our photos in Thailand in serial form

  An in -flight meal

To our surprised our favorite Haagen Dazs ice cream was served
on the airplane.(JAL) .  Our first exciting shopping in Thailand was
when my daughter got a snack in the airport.

We arrived in the hotel late in the evening
at around 10 and then we went to the nearest
local convenience store, Seven Eleven which
is very familiar to Japanese too.
We were very excited to what were sold in
the shop. I found pink colored small eggs.
I wonder what they are.
We bought mineral water for 6 BAHT
( 約20円),  a bag of soft chocolate candies
for 5 B (約18円) and green jelly.
We stayed in there for 4 days.

At  a boat  boarding  spot.

There are numerous canals around Bangkok. They say it is called the
“Venice of the East”. This boat with an engine which runs at a higher speed
than I thought, and makes a big splash. We felt cool and comfortable
with a head wind.  Please click here so you can maybe feel that speed.

Very busy river!

Damnen Saduak floating market(ダムヌンサムアク水上マーケット) seemed t
o change the sightseeing spot, but we enjoyed beating down the prices, bought
a nice bag with elephant designs and purple flower made of ribbons , a crocodile
like wallet for my son and a mural decoration of elephant.

Sugar are made from the sap of coconut tree .

a woman is boiling down the  sap.

 finish products

The scenery in Bangkok city seen from the bus window.

The area around vigouros Pratunam market(プラトナーム市場).
A  lot of Street vendors have just cut and sold fruits such as mangoes
 or watermelons.

All streets are inundated with a lot of Thais and visitors.
The Streets are crowded everywhere in Bangkok city.

We tried tropical fruit like mangosteen. They tasted faint sweet, juicy and  flesh.
While I was choosing mangosteens in a supermarket called Big C,
a very kind woman told me that the mangosteens that are very soft to touch
are more delicious.  Thanks to her, we enjoyed sweet ones.

Our room is very cozy, however we encountered a little trouble in the
bathroom when we were not able to drain the tub after taking a bath.
But on the next day, my daughter found out how to pull the plug and
the water was drained. And also the alarm clock in the room was broken,
good thing I brought one.

Everything in Thailand was seemed new to me. That day was really an exciting day.

I wnder how the year 2013 is like.

The year 2013 has just started.

One of the big events in my family this 2013 is our son's high school
entrance exam which he will be taking by the end of January.
I wish he could pass it with flying colours

Here is a picture of  Sansevieria or the Mother-in-law's Tongue  ,houseplant.
I've grown it several years now.
This plant needs low maintenance. I seldom water it and place fertilizer
throughout the year and it can already delight our eyes.

It  snowed heavily a few days ago . Everything that were covered with
snow looked beautiful.  White world is fantastic.

I went to see the renovated red-brick building, Tokyo station which was opened
in last October with my daughter during New Year's Holidays.
There was a crowd of people in around the station.
The domes on both sides of the building was amazingly lovely.

After   hanging around two stylish big shopping centers near Tokyo Station, we took a walk around the imperial palace and went to another shopping center with my daughter.

This soft ice cream was taste-GOOD.

When we were in shopping center,  luckyly meeted "Sisimai( Lion dance)" which was performed around the new Year by one or two lions accompanied by bamboo flutes and drums. It was performed as a prayer for household safety and health and a good harvest.

I and my family visited my parents to greet them a happy new year during New Year's Holidays.
I feel very happy that I and my family got another healthy year again. But there were a lot of demands on my purse at this time. Because, in Japan, adults are supposed to give money to their children or relative's children as  New Year's Gift .

We went to a big Temple nearby to pray our happiness and health.

My daughter  bought her first false eyelashes.   She  tried them on
but we were not able to put them properly. We were not used to putting it on.

My father who started doing magic about 20 years ago, taught me
some ways how to do magic   such as shifting a knot of handkerchief
from a red handkerchief to a yellow  one , showing a handkerchief on my
hand instantl ,restoring torn paper by hands to its original size , restoring a bill
with a hole to its original condition and separating a red ring tied together with
a white rope.   It was quite difficult to  do such magics well. I have to
practice them again and again to master.

I went to Haiji village( ハイジの村) with my family. It was freezing,
but we were impresed by the fantastic ilumination.

I'm hoping that a lot of people around the world will be happy this year.

Cute Otome Tubaki.

Yay!  Today I am on a day off .  After I updat my blog, I wonder what
I should do..It is really cold today, the wind that coming from the
north is roaring outside, but, first, I will transfer my strawberry into
a bigger flower pot, then, I'll listen to some songs that I really appreciate
which are: Save The Best for Last, My Heart Will Go on" and
"A Song for you", etc.

One of my favorite flower, “Otome Cameria”(乙女椿), are at
their best in my garden. Otome means young lady. These flowers are
lovely as their name.

Heavenly bamboo ( nanten, 南天) that the fruit is so heavy.

Unseasonable bloom of “Ground Pink”…..What happened?

Cooooool??

By the way, last month I visited Shosen Valley with my parents
and daughter. The place is one of the famous sightseeing spots in
Yamanashi Prefecture especially the falling leaves are colorful.
We wanted to walk in along river at Valley. Because of my
daughter's situation, we planned again to visit the place next year.
My daughter is still wearing corset and can’t ride a bicycle yet,
because of the injury that happened to her two months ago, however,
she's now getting better.

So, we climbed up by a ropeway from Shousennkyo this time.
We enjoyed the splendid view of Yasaburoudake which is
located 1.058 meters above the ground. Autumn is really the
most exciting season for us.

From the great view of an Observation Deck, We admired so much
the Mt. Fuji.

And also, from another Observation platform, we viewed the
breathtaking sight of Kufo-basin  and Mt.Fuji.
We enjoyed our walks through the road but suddenly little by little
it becomes rugged and slippery, despite of that, we still had a lot of fun.

My daughter and I made a lot of little round doughnuts.

I wondered if I sprinkled too much sugar.

Our pet Pyon is very gentle and quiet.

How do you like these characters called “Kakuremomojiri” and “Hotokeakabane” ?
They seem to be both cute and disgusted, right?
They are turning into a bit of a fad between young people these days.
I used them as mobile phone strap.

I made a Christmas wreath out of paper at the office yesterday. It's very easy and you can make it in a short time. By the way, the atmosphere here in the city is in a very jolly mood and everyone can feel the Christmas spirit. This is the best season for me. How about you?

Merry Christmas!!

a cool autumn wind

My garden has quite become autumnal.
"Japanese toad lilies "are in full bloom quitely.
These flowers are a little bit quite and sober ,but they are perennial
plant and don't give trouble, so these plants have been in
my garden since we built our house here10 or so years ago.

with  the pomegranates which my daughter got from her school.

These pure white crysanthemums are conspicuous now in my southern garden.

This gorgeous flower called "Ginger" stands out a lot, doesn't it?
This is one of my favorite flowers in my garden.
This plant is growing bigger   year by year.

These beautiful "Colchicum " is also one of my favorit flowers.
I took this picture in October.

I harvested some Chinese chives, and cooked " miso soup" which I
often I cook for breakfast, with them. A newly made miso soup
 is really delicious.

Our new pet, Loach
It's name is Pole.
Pole likes to keep still.

Our Hermit crab is on the run.

My children's birthday was last month. I felt very happy
to see them eating my home made cake with gusto.

As for my daughter, Unluckily, she broke her spine  during PE lesson last month ,
and she is wearing a corset now, can't take exercise for a few months.
But she go to school brightly every day. I do hope she gets better soon.

Have a nice weekend!  Take care!
